Would like the baby goldfish to have new homes but not in Goldfish bowls! I am a softy and dread giving them to people who would harm them. Know of any charity, new pond builders who would like them.

theres plenty of people of people who would have them of you.im guessing you dont realy want them to get to the baby stage realy.maybe get a fish that eats eggs like a weather loach.doesnt sound like you got room for a sterlet.i would ask at your local fish store as i dont know what fish you can get or how warm it is there.

you will find people to take them from you. one of our local gardencentre takes them from us for a little money. you wont be able to sex them easily. the males develop warty/pimples on the head region april- may and stay relatively slim, the females develop a fat deep belly when full of eggs. we started with 12 now have upwards of 50 and regularly donate them to like minded people. We only get 2-6 every year and considering they lay many 100's of eggs they provide food for themselves. horrrid little cannibals lol

well i guess its like the birds and the bees

i guess so

Yes, unfortunately cannibalism deals with most of them, but it is said amongst expert 'poolers' that the fish will only continue to breed to the capacity of the pond - ie: you won't find them sunbathing on the outside awaiting their 'turn' for a dip in the pool as they will always ensure they have their space within it.

true natural selection.ive got malawis in my tank that breed as well as a pond and they breed but i never have to get rid of any.
