There are masses of crocosmia in a slightly shady part of my garden, but all leaves and only a couple with flowers. Is that because they need dividing?

Thanks Spritz I'll do as you suggest. I rather like them.

I do too - but they do get a bit out of hand, don't they!

Saw masses of them up in the Lake District last week, just growing by the roadside. All flowering, unlike mine. Maybe they thrive on neglect - I'm really good at that.

Lol neglect sounds about right to me, we've got masses in the garden at the moment. Some have grown up the side of the deck and some further down. All in places I haven't touched yet. They all have masses of flowers.
Thanks for the tip Spritz, I'll have to make a note for myself for spring, before they get any bigger :D:D

They flower a lot better in sun than in shade too, so that may be part of the reason they're not flowering well for you.

I think this is one of the plants that it is illegal to dump by the roadside. Take the excess to the tip if you can't sell/give them away. Try the local school, they may be happy to have some easy flowers around their grounds.

I believe that technically, it's illegal to dump ANY plants by the roadside. And technically, guerilla gardening is illegal. Technically.......

lol.

In fact, it's illegal to dump anything anywhere, except at your local "Civic amenities site" - or "tip" as we call it. And if you have a business, you can't use that either.... *rolls eyes*

It sounds like it! When you dig them up in the spring, you'll find corms on top of corms like little towers. The top ones should be replanted, and the rest discarded. Don't compost them, though.
