Problem with cherry tomatoes.
Staffordshire, United Kingdom
Hello people, I am new here and I have a question regarding cherry tomatoes.
I planted 2 cherry tomatoes plants in a grow bag filled with vegetable compost around June. I know it was perhaps a bit late but someone gave me these plants.
My problem is that they only started flowering and fruiting in August and now the weather is not so great any more but they are still flowering and making new fruits. Some of the tomatoes have been up to size for 2 weeks but are not ripening.
I do not possess any green house or covers as it is a communal garden and I'm only allowed grow bags.
What should I do?

Thank you for your reply! I thought maybe I could use these tomato growbag growhouses but i read a lot of negative reviews about some of them.

You may yet get some toms to ripen, don't give up yet...I have the same problem but mine are now ripening.
One good tip I have been given by Dianebully is take the toms off as trusses not individuals and ripen on a warm sunny windowsill or something similar.

I keep unripe trusses with a ripe tomato rather than a banana as bananas don't last all that long and get a bit whiffy! Both work.

Our bananas get eaten too quickly.

You may just have to pick the green tomatoes and make them into chutney or put them in a paper bag with a ripe banana to encourage them to ripen. We removed all the fruits from our tomatoes yesterday and the green ones are now getting the banana treatment. You can also line them up on a sunny window sill.
