Is it possible to grow rhubarb in a large container as opposed to in the ground - how big should a pot be,can I add well rotted manure when planting crown, and is this the right time of year to do it ? thankyou.

No, you can't add manure, well rotted or otherwise, to containers, and that's the biggest drawback to growing rhubarb in pots. Will need a container 18 inches deep and 12 inches wide, and use John Innes No. 2 or 3 for the compost - its loam based and will be better for the plant.
