I have an apricot tree about 4 years old trained against a south facing fence. This year I had about 30 apricots, but during some bad weather earlier in the year I went out to have a look at them and there was only 1 left on it! Tasty though it was when it finally ripened, I would have appreciated a bigger crop. How should I care for them next year, please? I live on the Isle of Sheppey, north kent, soil is clay.

I would try to arrange a wind break wherever the strongest storm winds come from, but not so close as to shade the Apricot. Sometimes a little extra potash from washed and dried seaweed will help the fruit stems to be stronger. If you apply it now, it will also help it resist a foul winter.
