We have had some splendid displays of coleus in our tubs this year - is it possible to propagate these by cuttings, and if so, how and when? I tried growing from seed last year with spectacular levels of failure

Take the cuttings now, and I have 2 given to me by my neighbour who said, that they take well from cuttings. If I remember correctly about 2-3 inches down, remove the lower leaves and propogate.

If this is incorrect, someone will surely put me right.

They root well in a glass of water too, Try both methods Gattina..

That is how my neighbour said to do it Daisy, but both ways seem to work with plants, which makes it easier to propergate, and you have proof that roots are forming.

In water, I have had better luck with longer cuttings, about 6 inches, with the leaves that would be submerged removed.

How do I say thanks?
