not the easiest thing to o as it goes even if you do kill the odd one as theyve obviously come from somewear with lots of moles.they dont have territory as such and are quite happy to use each others burrows.i think theres like a sonic noise making thing you can buy but i dont know how well they realy work.youd have to look into it.

they are supposed to hate noise. put a length of pipe into the runs and as the wind blows over the top it makes a noise. one person will swear by it others will just swear.
good hunting.

I had a mole a few years ago, and he stayed with us for about 6 months - in which time I reckon, at the often-stated rate of 25m per day, he must have dug about 5 km under our average sized garden! You colud see the plants dying as he dug beneath them. He had to go.
I tried hitting him with a spade (yes, he did pop his nose out one day, but was too quick for me) Radio 1 (via a loudspeaker on the ground), upturned milk bottles, kids windmills, paraffin, moth balls, petrol - lit and unlit, lawn mower exhaust, hosepipe and eventually bought a trap. Got him next day.
I have uploaded a photo of Mr Mole, and of one of his runs.

i believe you can get humane mole traps

We have tried the mole traps and caught one on the first occasion, but never managed at all after this, so this was just beginners luck. We bought one of the battery operated mole noise deterrents, but this just "ate" batteries and we still had the mole, so quite expensive to run. So far this year they are in the grass verge outside our house, so lets hope he cannot find a way underneath the hedge. Good luck, the little creatures are very difficult to get rid of.

well like i say they are not easy and as they arnt far beneath the grass they mite not get under your hedge

If you don't want to kill moles, but keep them out of your land, try to buy some Caper Spurges plants. I believe they are rather rare to find, but I planted them in my 1 acre garden some 30/40 years ago and have not been troubled with moles since, despite the fact that surrounding fields and gardens have problems.
You plant them around the perimeter of your land several feet apart, and apparently the plants discharge a smell or substance which moles do not like.
They seed very easily, and each year you will have new seedlings which can be transplanted around the garden.
Not particularly pretty to look at, but for me they have certainly worked.
Good luck. Amron

Buy some mole traps! Be careful you wear gloves setting them ,place the trap in a run i.e. between 2 mole hills. You can find the run by prodding with a narrow stick. Good luck!!
