I grew one from seed many years ago, it's still going strong and flowers most years. I only had 2 out of 5 seeds germinate. You'll need to keep them warm but don't overwater until they are through the compost as they may rot. I don't think I soaked mine, but an hour or so in water wouldn't hurt. Don't leave them overnight as this may be too long and they will 'drown'. It took 5 years before it flowered so expect a long haul. However, it's a very satisfying feeling when you get the first flower.
