I want to make a St George Flag as my main border next year. I thought salvia for the cross and the whole flag set in blue lobelia. I can't seem to find an all white plant about 1 ft tall for the main area's. Ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks dear Lady, but I do mean St George. The Lobelia is purely as a background to point up the Red and White.

Yes its Red and white only for the English flag, For the Jack lobelia in white and blue and or even white Alyssum, but you will need some spares to fill in gaps next year. Dont forget the Union Jack is not the same top and bottom there is a right way up.

Perhaps
White iberis ( candytuft )
White campanulas
White phlox
But I suppose what you need to check is the flowering period for your eventual choices so they all flower together.

No QE 2 Diamond Jubilee, really patriotic.

Just a correction. I am not a dear lady. I am male. Don't worry about it though, I do know that it can be hard to tell what gender some of us are.

No worries, and thank you.
You are not the first to have mistaken one of us for the opposite sex.
It can be quite hard.

Do you mean union flag? You said blue. The St George flag is white with red cross.
As long as you are up for the challenge, then good on you.
Who said patriotism was dead?
