Does anyone know when is the best time to move a rhubarb plant. I have three or four plants that are growing too near to a conifer hedge and don't grow like they should.

And don't be surprised to find some still appearing where you moved it from - little bits left behind start growing enthusiastically again when the weather warms up!

Hello! I totally agree with moon growe and steragram, and in fact now grow my rhubbarb in this year's compost pile ... courgettes love it too, and every year during the winter move my rhubbard to the next bin in rotation. As the rhubbarb is in compost it is also easier to ensure that all the root ball is moved.

Good idea - friends of ours had a couple of turf stacks and planted their courgettes in - worked like a dream!

November time or early spring - basically when there is no growth and no frost. Remember to add a lot of well composted manure/compost to tje hole to feed the rhubarb.
