When and how much should I prune Hydrangea Petiolaris? It's a fabulous climbing plant and flowers beautifully but it grows outward more every year and is now coming out a bit too far.

Remove unwanted stems in January, Merlinbabydog. I keep mine within bounds by cutting back at that time every year and it bounces back well. I would expect a well established plant to respond well to being 'tamed'.

Thanks Xela. Do I also trim back the stems with the previous year's flowers?

How do I say thanks?
