My lawn is mostly in full sun - and not used by children or animals (as far as I am aware) - I have some 'clumplike' patches where the grass has lifted entirely leaving the bare soil. Its like the grass is loose.
Has anyone any ideas?

Mole / rat runs underground? There aren't always molehills to give them away.

Cant see any sign of 'life' - the soil underneath stays compact and the grass has just lifted (similarly to how a hair piece would!)

I was thinking Chaffer grub damage as they eat the grass roots. That would explain the grass lifting off like hair.
