i have a large patch of my grass that has turned to mud and has turned black what is the cause we have had a lot of rain but when its dry the rest of the garden is dry but the patch is still muddy and why is it black

The question that comes to my mind, Govie, is - do you have septic tank drainage and a soakaway? I have seen a lot of similar cases during my working life when the soakaway failed.

Or possibly a leaking pipe under the area?
