Yes , steer well clear of any ivy ; they all become a real menace over time.
We have a Hydrangea Petiolaris growing on a north facing house wall that is well established and is now as tall as the house and would be as wide as the house if you let it.
So each year it now means getting out the ladder and trimming it back a bit. Its self-clinging and doesnt need any support. Lots of attractive large white flowers in summer. Was slow to get going at first but a lovely big climber plant for a north facing wall.

Whoops !! But its not evergreen. Perhaps there's an evergreen one too. Not sure.

we have a solanum crispum (chilean potato-tree) on an east facing wall its evergreen and very rampant does,nt get a lot of sun but is a lovely climber and evergreen might suit you

Hi! I have a Pyrostegia viburnoides that might suit you. It doesn't seem to mind that it's in shade! There's also a climbing Hydrangea like H. petiolaris but evergreen, I can't bring its name to mind, but you could google it. Some honeysuckles would also grow there - but be careful which one you go for as some really prefer the sun.
