I am renovating a neglected border at our new house, and I have uncovered the three plants below. Are they weeds? Thanks for the help.

Thanks very much. I thought the first one was foxglove, but wasn't too sure about the other two.

Second one LOOKS like hollyhock, but isn't. Not sure what it IS, but we get loads of them round here: I'll be interested in an id, too. 1st one I'd have guessed was foxglove, too, and If we're right, it'll probably flower next year, and last one is definitely a hellebore. I'd keep 1 & 3 if I were you!

I would have said that the first was a foxglove, a potential weed if allowed to seed; the second a hollyhock until someone else supports Gattina; the third is Helleborus foetidus which will soon be in flower.

There is a 'weed' which looks like a young hollyhock, but I'm plumping for hollyhock here, especially if the garden has had hollyhocks in it before. The weed you're thinking of, Gattina, is a wild form of mallow. Were it my garden, I'd oik out the hollyhock anyway, I hate the way they suffer badly from rust...

You are absolutely right Mr B & Bamboo, what I am thinking of IS a form of mallow, and I always used to think "Oh Hooray! Baby hollyhocks" but disappointment inevitably followed. I bow to superior knowledge and experience.

The third is definitely a hellebore - probably H. foetidus

Well, thanks for all the opinions!
I'll keep the plants to see what they turn into.
Quite honestly, anything that will fill the border, except weeds, is a blessing at the moment.

No, I don't think so - the first pic could be Digitalis (foxglove) but feel the leaves - if they're soft and pleasant to touch, that's what it is - if they feel unpleasant to touch, dig it out, removing the roots too.
The second one could be hollyhock, and the third looks like a hellebore.
