Fix wire across from your post. Plant Clematis, honeysuckle or Passiflora.

for something quick growing while waiting for shrubs or trees to grow could try a golden hop. Its perennial, will spread quit far once established (20 feet). the colour is lovely bright yellow/green and looks good with something blue or red in front. Its not scented but it produces long trusses of hops in autumn. It twines around support wire so you can spread it over a large area. Mine is north east facing on clay and does fine

another trick would be to paint the fence a colour that blends in better with your garden.ther are some good products on the market and some are ok to use with a spray gun which will make the task a lot quicker and easier.......................steve

It depends on the aspect - does it get full sun? If so, it's a perfect place for climbers like clematis, honeysuckle, sweet peas.
