I've just bought a witch hazel and would appreciate some advice on the best place to plant it for survival as it is only 18" high.Also there was a seed pod on the plant with some seeds.What are the chances of getting them to germinate.

Prefers free draining soil which is not alkaline - neutral to acid is best.
You may well get a plant from the seeds in the pod - but it may not be the variety you've bought (or the same as the parent plant). If you want one the same as the variety you have, the best way to produce one is layering.
