when we moved house we inherited a peach tree which cropped very well. now i find it has a mushroom type growth at ground level. It is brown on top and white underneath, we dont want to loose it through bad management. Hoping you can help, yours stan rodgers.

A pic would help to confirm? Bracket fungus only attacks trees that area already dying from the inside out. Try googling fungus/mushroom and seeing if you can spot your type?

If the tree itself was healthy when in leaf, and still seems healthy now,without bracket fungus or similar growing on the trunk, it sounds as if you've just got a few toadstools growing in the soil around the base. From your description, they don't sound like honey fungus and, unless your tree starts to sicken, I wouldn't worry about them.
