I got a packet of viola odorata at Christmas time. Can anyone tell me the best way to start them? Indoors in a pot early or direct seed into the garden after frost? Thanks, Barbara

Thank you. I think I will do that too. We have had such a mild winter this year here in Missouri that I will try my luck at a few direct sown on the south side of the house also. I don't know which varity is native here. I am anxious to try these from Europe. violets are my favorite!

I'd sow them in a pot personally. they are more likely to germinate and grow to a reasonable size. you can then select the strongest ones to plant out.
