is it safe to plant clematis near house walls or are the roots invasive

Answers

Mine are in Containers. They can be moved around.
The roots can be kept damp in a drought. Large pebbles should be placed over the roots to keep them cool.

stems dont like sun but you should plant them 18" away from the wall and slope them inwards to miss your footings etc . they shouldnt be a problem at all .

They won't damage your walls but if planted too close they may not get enough moisture. shade the roots and water if necessary as NP says.
