You need to get grit and humus dug into the soil. Plants for shade are many and varied. I have areas that only get 3hrs of sun a day and i grow hardy geraniums, anenome japonica, bergenia, ajuga, ferns and many more. I will be able to send you pieces of geranium, ajuga and anenome japonica if you want. send me a pm if you are interested.
