Arisaema speciosum.
I bought the Arisaema speciosum tuber yesterday (in photo below). I would like to know your thoughts on the best way to plant it? Should I leave the shoot exposed or plant it deep.
It will go into a pot, so I can re-plant it deeper when dormant at the end of the year if needs be.

Thanks Owdboggy!
I was just a little worried about rotting the shoot which is why I asked.

Obviously a well drained compost is good. I keep my potted ones in the Summer house over winter with no water at all. In fact I do not water until they begin to grow above the surface. So until it appears I would not be too enthusiastic with the watering.

So the shoot should be ok buried then?

According to a Gardener's World guide on care of these, they say that 'usually, when you buy one of these, there is a shoot or shoot tip at one end. Plant it in such a way that the shoot tip is just showing above the soil in your pot'. Also says to use a large pot for stability.

Well there you go, two differing opinions. Now we need Bulbaholic to come along and make a decision.
I only have about 10 different species of these so I am not really that much of an expert.

I'm far from an expert OB!
I may just go back, buy another and try both ways!!!!!

To be honest I do not think it matters, as long as you do not overwater after planting them.

Thanks OB!
I'm working my way through your photos..............

I don't plant arisaemas as deep as Owdboggy but I certainly don't leave the shoot showing either. So now you have three different answers!

Mine are planted at about twice the depth of soil above the bulb as the bulb(tuber actually) is long. They seem to move themselves to that sort of depth in the soil/compost.
