clematis montana elizabeth?
Iv got a big wall and fence to cover, Complete novice when it comes to Clematis, Any advice welcome.......Pruning? Soil requirements? Trellis to start it off?

If ever you do want to prune it to reduce its size, do it immediately after it has flowered. Otherwise, no pruning is necessary.

I have this. It is slow to establish itself but when it does it grows quite quickly. It does not like compacted soil - it needs loamy but dampish.

Good fertile soil, head in the sun feet in the shade, no pruning, dead easy.
