Hi,
Over the past month, my lawn has been almost completely killed off. I have now been told that it is a leatherjacket infestation, so I have been looking for a pest treatment to use. However, all seem to say to use in late summer through to October. Do you know of any way I can get rid of them now? I was intending to re-turf, but I need to get rid of them first.

Leatherjacket infestation usually causes more trouble during autumn - if you've seen birds pecking at the lawn, then it might be that, but to be sure, you can lay a sheet of polythene over the grass in the evening, then pick it up first thing in the morning - if its leatherjackets, you'll see the grubs on the surface.
