So here is an oddity. I think I know what it is but it has the wrong number of petals and the central boss is wrong too.

Even more important, how did it get where it is? It is in the middle of a self seeded patch of Anemone nemorosa, a good 80 metres away from the nearest Hepatica and the ones up the garden are either , pink or shades of blue. That's is what had me fooled for a moment. Oh, that and the fact that there are no leaves to it!

So, do I dig it up and move it to where it can be seen better and if so when?

'It' has put itself where it is and looks pertfectly happy, Owdboggy. With self-seeders like this I prefer to leave them where they are and enjoy the new colony.

Usually I do the same, but this is in an area which has to be cleared before long to get rid of the ground elder.

In that case I woyuld suggest you move it when it has finished flowering, it has some leaves showing and you are not in the middle of a drought.

Hepatica nobilis alba and don't worry about the number of petals, plants can't count. Where are the leaves, though?
