Hi - My Camellia Sasanqua is about 7ft tall (not sure which variety) has never had a bud/flower - should I feed it now? (April 2012) - all my other camellia's are in flower now. I live in Australia N.S.W.

This variety of Camellia flowers earlier than others, starting in Autumn and going on through winter, so in your part of the world, probably too late for the feed to make a difference - its the start of your winter shortly, presumably. Straggly shoots can be cut back in midsummer, so I'd imagine that would be the best time to feed as well, preferably with something high potash. These varieties also prefer some sun, rather more so than other Camellias.

Thanks for your input, I usually feed at the start of spring - September.

Try feeding midsummer instead then (for the following year's flowering, hopefully) for this variety at least.

Will try that next summer, hopefully that will work.

How do I say thanks?
