Tree Fern

The unfolded ferns were taking a long time to unravel, so I picked one, it was then that I discovered no green fronds, just brown and rotten, not mushy though. I covered it all winter, the old fronds were folded in and fleece wrapped around it. There are no new fronds awaiting to unravel, anybody else had this problem, anybody know if it is likely to survive.

Not sure where you live, but I live in Hampshire. Mine have been fine for years planted in the garden. This year the fronds went brown due to the cold weather (first time) there are some new ones at the top inside, but they are not doing much at the moment. Stick it out and wait by the end of the month they hopefully should start to poke up a little and next month you will wonder what the worry was about.

Hmmmmm, I would firstly cut off the dead fronds. I'm not sure, but I would give it a good feed and long drink of water when you're sure they will be no frost. And just wait and see.
I thought my 2 ferns were dead, but then all at once, long green shoots started appearing.....
Good luck!
