Hi, I live in Southern Spain,and four years ago planted three Oleander,shrubs about 1.5 metres back from a long hedge,in that area the old hedge seems to be dying off,with oleander suckers near it,the rest of the hedge is fine,please can you advise. John.

Most likely cause is just the extra competition for water and nutrients from the oleander - although they are toxic plants, they do not, as far as I can establish, have any allellopathic effect on surrounding plants.
