Only if you keep potting on as the shrub grows - if you want it to reach over 8 feet,you will need a very large pot indeed - at least 3 feet deep by 24 wide, preferably even deeper.

Yes, i agree all the way with bamboo, have done this myself and you do need to water more frequently in the summer [ ha ha - wot summer!!] I lined the terracotta pot with a couple of bin liners before planting up and it definately helped when repotting.
