lawn bug. I've just been digging out some dandelions from the lawn and kept coming across fat brown grub type creatures. I thought the lawn was diminishing due to the boys football but I think these bugs are destroying it. It's a mess. Any advice other than get the expensive lawn care people in?

I think its them that turn into 'daddy longlegs' isn,t it Bamboo?
We sometimes get an invasion of starlings on the lawn after the grubs

Yup, that's what we called them as kids, daddy long legs - crane flies, I hate the bloomin' things, I loathe the way they blunder into you indoors with their spider like dangly legs, ugh...

hahahahahaha.... there are a lot of birds pecking away. It's gross. It's giving me bad dreams. Reminds me of those witchety grubs they have to eat on the bush tucker challenge in 'I'm a celebrity get me outta here!'

Anchorman - spindly legs? Don't be daft, I always call thin legs on a man rock guitarist's legs, and have always found that feature very attractive! Give me a man with those legs any day over a rugby player's legs, ugh...

Hmm, leather jacket, thin legs... now there's an image, enough to make an old lady cry... lol, sorry, couldn't resist it Teegee...

Most likely leatherjackets, which are the larvae of crane flies. You can get a nematode treatment which should be watered onto the lawn, but its effectiveness is restricted by temperature, so usually applied May I think. Check out Nemesys - they do a range of nematode treatments for different problems
