Great colour but I think they might be weeds, and are taking over a small patch in the corner of the garden...

I think they are forget-me-nots. They are very pretty, but once they get going they spread like mad!

The blue ones are Myosotis (For-get-me not) although most are annuals they come up new every year as they tend to easily self seed. I like them. But I suspect you have a perennial weed there as well best to dig the whole lot out and clear the roots or it will spread.

I'm not sure the leaves you think might be a weed aren't a Geranium, Drc. Marcus, they are indeed Myosotis - they pop up all over the place, I usually let them and just pull out the ones I don't want when they get too many. Easy to remove.

i also think there is a geranium in their too, the leaf with 5 main points.

I also agree, you have (hardy) geranium leaves and forget-me-not flowers in that picture. I have the same combo under a tree in my garden. Once the geranium flowers you have a better chance of telling which it is. Again the forget-me-not is annual, pull it out if you don't like it....but you probably already have seeds everywhere.

My geranium is a one of the macrorrhizum ones and they do spread quickly. If the leaves are smelly (sorry aromatic!) when you touch them and make your hands itch....then that's probably what you have too. For me the plus side is that not a lot else wants to grow in that dry area and it makes good ground cover (and is evergreen.) Again just pull out the bits you don't want because the roots are shallow, you won't kill it (Unless you want to, in which case just pull it all out). If it isn't smelly then it's another geranium.

I too think its a Geranium, but surely this one is out of control and behaving like a weed?

Hard to say, it's a matter of personal opinion really, given we can't see the whole area or guess what else might/should be there. I wouldn't be unhappy with it, from the little I can see in the close up shown there.

Forget me nots are lovely reliable little flowers that do no harm. They are not difficult to pull up but why would you want to get rid of them altogether when they are such cuties!

Hi everyone, well this one has started quite a healthy debate.

From re-collection these geraniums didn't flower last year. It is a corner plot of the garden that gets little light. I think there is a similar geranium out in the front garden, again in a shaded area underneath the bay window. When would I expect these to flower, these didn't flower last year either?

That's odd, never known a geranium not to flower - depending on variety, any time from May onwards.

There seems to be a bit of vetch or something in there as well (the long narrow one with rows of small leaves along the stem). That needs to come out if you can get at it. If you don't want the forget me nots to seed just enjoy the flowers and pull them out as soon as they've finished. Whether you call them weeds or not depends on whether you want them there. I enjoy mine.

bye the way a weed is a plant in the wrong place like a poney is just a shorter horse lol .

I think that the big clump is another perennial geranium and should have loads of attractive pink flowers soon.
