Perhaps you are worried about cross-pollination? Normally not a problem, unless you are saving seed from year to year. If that's so, pumpkins, summer squashes, the smaller forms of winter squash (turban type on down), and yellow-flowering gourds are all interfertile. Cantaloupes, honeydew, csaba, crenshaw, and muskmelons form another interfertile group. Watermelons, white-flowered gourds, and cucumbers are all separate species, and will not cross with anything else.
