climbing rose support
i have a 4foot fence and would like to increase the height, was thinking about forming a frame with lateral wires. any ideas on how high the wires need to be, and importantly, how far apart?
cheers kev

Depending on the vartiety of rose really, But I would put wires up to about 7'. Train the main rose stems along the fence and this will encourage new shoots that you can then train along the wires above. I would put the wires at about 8" intervals.

thanks 2nd hand, that is very helpful don't no the name of rose, had it a few years, last year i hard pruned it, as it was getting it's flowers about 10 feet up and being hidden in a twisted willow. to my great surprise it flowered at about 5foot and the perfume was beautiful, didn,t realise for all these years the scent had been carried over my head in the breeze !!!
so hence would like to bring it down to fully enjoy,my neighbour isn`t a gardener and has had the flowers and perfume showing to her for all this time, and had no appreciation???
thanks again kev
