Digit you say your daffodils come up 'blind' and then go on to say you cut the leaves off when they have finished flowering... I am confused!!!
As Owdb. says you need to let the leaves die back naturally and feed with something like half strength tomato food.

Sorry, it missed out a line in there somehow. The granular feed I use is Tonk's Rose Fertiliser. You may switch to Tomorite later on, but make sure you use a growth promoting feed after the flowering time is over, say Maxicrop.

All the above advice sounds great. Monty Don confronted this issue on Gardener's World a while back. I think he'd planted his a couple of years back and didn't expect them to flower until next year. I guess it takes them time to get used to their environment and build up energy reserves.

If you have planted your daffodils at the correct depth and let the leaves die back naturally they should flower the following year without any problem... not idea what Monty was on about!

Thanks for clearing that up Digit and do take Owdb's advice about feeding...

Usual reasons for non flowering are, planted too shallow or the plants are hungry. So if they have been in a while then they will have adjusted their depth to suit themselves which leaves hunger. If you cut the leaves off before they have finished dying down then you are depriving the bulbs of food. Even the dying leaves send goodness back into the bulb. So, leave them alone and feed while the leaves are green with a liquid fertiliser and then early next year when the leaves first appear give a good feed with a granular type around the bulbs.
