Jasminum Officinale.
Mine has been planted in a large tub for a few years, do you think they have a shelf life and gradually run out of steam ?

The jasmine will not run out of steam but the compost will. Repot after flowering in nice fresh compost. That jasmine is a beauty and it would be a shome to spoil it.

Thank you both, the photo was taken two years ago and I cannot repot any more it is just too big for me so this year I just scraped off the top and added new compost and feed and so far it is not looking too happy. I am going to try and post a current photo.
Thanks again.

Val, this isn't Jasmine, its Trachelospermum jasminoides, different altogether.
Type 'trachelospermum jasminoides pruning' into Google - the RHS has a guide on this, and there's a couple of videos on line too about it.

Very good advice from all, will trim back a little and tie in some shoots.

Well your Jasminum doesn't look to have 'run out of steam' but it could probably do with re-potting this autumn.
