What is this shrub please. I would like to transfer it to another part of the garden or buy another one.

Casso my answer remains the same as the first time you asked this question an extremely well established small leaved rhododendron chances of moving it successfully are slim. Your garden centre will have plenty of rhododendrons but if you want something special check out Glendoick Nursery on-line

Thnk you for your help. I thought perhaps it was an Azalea.

It is called Azalea japonica. It is a pink variety...quite a few of those! They are very popular and in most garden centres. They need some shade and do not like to be is very wet soil in winter.

Casso azalea's are rhododendrons they are all the same species. The botanists lumped them back together several years ago now...

Yep, MG's right - azalea is rhododendron, rhododendron is azalea...

If you'd like to know more about how Azalea's sit in the plant kingdom, then there's a nice short article on the wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azalea

That is Azalea Hino-Crimson.
