Very likely Kidsgran... Unfortunately some of the on-line set-ups selling plants, shrubs etc. are not particularly concerned about the survival rate of what they sell!

Be carefull not to plant too close to your wall. Your hedge can grow to 20ft+ but it will also have a massive root system in time and can lift the foundations of your wall.

Thanks both I'm off prunus !! I'm thinking of pyracantha as I have only 4ft width by 10ft length of area to put in a hedge to grow about 5ft high but want something quick growing but not a fence!! LOL

Yes it should do fine provided you have the depth of border to plant it in. Grows well as a hedge and can be kept pruned to the height you want; unpruned it will grow to around 8 metres. I would point out though that bare rooted trees and shrubs should only be planted from November to March so if you want to get your hedge in quickly you will need to buy pot grown Prunus laurocerasus Rotundifolia and be prepared to water extremely well! Assuming you do go for pot grown cherry laurels then they should be planted about half a metre apart.
