I have a young japanese maple, the edge of leaves are going brown, it is in a chimney shape pot, 9" at lip down to 12" , 24" high is this the cause? I have had this happen when planted in the garden, (3rd plant ). what am I doing wrong?

Agree with Gnarly gnome above - they loathe strong wind, don't mind a gentle breeze, and should not be exposed to sun between 11 and 3, particularly in the summer. Dappled shade in a sheltered spot out of wind is best.
From the description of the pot you've got it in, you will need to smash the pot later when the tree needs potting on - you will not get the rootball out of the narrow neck.

Hi they hate being in full sun and in the wind that what normaly causes it to make the edges of the leaves to turn brown, plus its a young plant as well move it out of the miday sun and more shelterd spot keep a eye on watering in this weather they can dry out very quickly
