hello could someone tell me what the small red hard jelly like nodules on my cherry tree are. The nodules are sticky to begin with and quite small. They are at the base of the leaves. The cherries are developing ok.

A photograph would be useful - if its bled sap which is becoming like amber, sounds like canker - if on the main trunk, not good news, if on stems, they need cutting back...

Very likely to be sap that has bled from the tree due to damage and formed what would eventually become amber.
