Lilac

Lanarkshire, Scotland

A few years ago the garden was being cleared and I turned up to find this bush having being ripped out of the ground , I cut the roots down a bit and put it in this big pot to give it a chance , Is it a lilac as I think and will it survive in the pot or should it be back in the ground?

Looks like a lilac, yes. BUT they can be very hard to control, shooting up everywhere. At least it is contained!

I think it would be happier in the ground if you now have your garden sorted, I don't find the lilac hard to controle, possably depends on the soil.

I'm not sure it is a Lilac Mac, It looks like a Pieris. Get a terracotta pot which the plastic one will fit into, keep it like that through the summer, plant out in the autumn.
