Hi all, in our back garden we have a 13ftx2ft red brick wall (live in a new build development that is less than 2yrs old). We recently took down and sold our 6x8ft shed as it was in the only part of the garden that receives the sun all day! Our plan is to deck the area, but since removing the shed we are now seriously overlooked! I would love your ideas on privacy screening etc. hope you can help! :)

I'd say the best thing to use is a trellis mounted on posts with a quick growing, flowering climber of some kind, such as a clematis. Although most are deciduous, the privacy issue is mainly a spring and summer issue and I would say that the beauty, colour and even scent you would get from a climber would outweigh the lack of winter privacy when leaves are lost. A vigorous climbing rose such as Madame Alfred Carriere would give you numerous flowers and lovely scent, as well as privacy.

I would go out and buy a few large Bamboos. Fergesia are fine in pots - so if you buy a 2 metre bamboo plant and the pot is 70 CM that is a great screen. Plus it will grow and is evergreen.

How do I say thanks?
