how to grow alpines in tubs please

the most important thing is good dainage. put stones in the bottom. i mix sand with the compost as well to let the water out.

use gravel in yr compost as well

Hi Stoner the compost you will need in your container will depend on the type of alpines you are trying to grow... but all require a moisture retentive free draining mix. I part loam, I part grit and 1 part humus (in our case leaf mould). If you want more info on growing alpines p.m. me or Bulbaholic with your questions

The grit should be 5 mm. stuff. And if you go for sand instead of grit, then make sure it is a really good clean sharp sand. If you do not want to use this or grit then Perlite is equally good.
