If you have a digital camera, it should have been supplied with software, usually on a cd, that you load into your computer - the manipulate/convert/resize function should be part of it.

Are you using Photobucket at all? There is a very food resizing element in there.

Very senior moment that. Should not type things in when there is a delicious smell of hot bread and fresh coffee.

Depending on your camera you might be able to crop on camera. I do this on my Ixus to reduce the file size. Close ups of plants use less then a more general view. Try a shuffle through your cameras menu to check if a crop facility and follow screen prompts.

Your computer will probably have come with free photo software. Right-click on the photo on your desktop, select 'Open with', then select 'Microsoft Office picture manager' (or whatever your software is). You'll then have the option to edit your photos (rotate, crop, etc.). Save the changes et voila. :)

Download GIMP2...a free photo/image editor far better than photoshop.

There is an option to scale your photo on that. I scale all mine to 800/600 pixels.
If you download it and need further help just ask.
