On my Choisya Tennata evergreen shrub, which produces small white flowers in June, why do the flowers now grow on the inside of the shrub and not on the ouside as before.

Choisya flowers on growth produced the previous year, so any pruning required should be carried out immediately after flowering. If you cut yours later in the season last year, the only parts now flowering are wood present from last year, not any new growth produced since.
