are there any plants called Duke.....

Summer2009, I am sorry to read about your dog and send my sympathy, what a nice idea to plant something in his memory. I can only think of the rose 'Duke of York'.

Hi - if you go to the RHS site
www.rhs.org.uk and then go to the 'plantfinder', type in 'Duke' and you will find a list of plants with the name 'Duke', and which nurseries have them. Most of them are 'Duke of ..somewhere' but there's one just called 'Duke'. Have a browse and see if any of them are suitable.
