why have my rose leaves gone yellow

More info please - do you mean the whole leaf is yellow, or just in patches? And is it the whole plant, or the older growth worst affected. Yellowing can mean shortage of certain nutrients, so on the assumption it isn't just dying, try feeding it with a specialist rose food.
