What is this plant?

United States
It is growing in the flowerbed on the North-west side of our house we just bought. We are located in Kentucky. It is about 12 - 15 inches tall and has no flowers. Leaves are shinny with red edges. It seems to spread, but not viney.

As someone who has been pulling it out for the last six years, I can assure you it IS Japanese knotweed! Pull it out and keep pulling it until it disappears.

This looks suspiciously like japanese knotweed and you will not want it in your garden it is very invasive and a real pest in the environment. I could be completely wrong but would advise you to google it and see what you think
