IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE FLOWER HEADS GROWING OUT OF FLOWER HEADS

The first time I saw this happening I was truly amazed! It happens with Monarda sometimes...a new stem and flower head right out of the existing flower..and I've seen it on primulas as well..fascinating isn't it. There is a name for it, and it isn't anything to worry about If I remember rightly, but it is weird! Enjoy!

Weird - be interesting to see if the other little flowers develop and open properly. Karensusan is right - nowt to worry about, its called proliferation if you're interested - cause is usually some sort of physical injury (frost or whatever) sometimes a virus. Often only one flower is affected.

if im not mistaken its a candula?...ive had the same happen last month on one of mine.5 small flowers coming out of one ,they didnt last long though.good luck
