I have a false acacia in a pot which has no leaves on the top metre. There are leaves on the lower branches. I have snapped off a piece which has no green inside. What do I do to save the tree plkease

It is 7ft tall and has been in the pot which is 45cm diameter for three years and was in fine leaf last summer.

I suspect you tree is rather more than slightly pot bound... have you been feeding on a regular basis? For now I'd remove all the dead growth and come autumn repot in fresh compost, then be prepared to water well - of course it would be even happier planted in the ground
