Cofedrence Pear in Northumberland, why no fruit?

15 yeaqrs ago I planted this conferencfe. At the same time I planted a Comice. The comice is a huge success and gives me loads of fruit. But the Conference, as usual , now has a huge number of tiny fruit. But I fear none will be there in a month's time which is what has happened for the last 10 years. I have cut off at least 90% of the fruitlets. Any other ideas???

Next question
How strange, as Comice is listed as a pollinator for Conference, also says that it is partially self-fertile. In Devon they hit the trees with sticks to get them to fruit!! Could give it a try...it might vent a little of your frustration too! Does it get enough water, have you tried feeding it? Is it surrounded by grass?
